Not a Whif, but a prototype so I can get away with showing it here, yes?

This is the old Airfix kit. This meant there are some... challenges. Apart from the usual fit issues (the fuselage sides don't line up, for one), there are a few areas that could stand improvement.

This is one of them. The intakes are missing the curve that guides the air to the compressor face. Also, the blanking plates show huge seams.

The solution: lots of filler. Oh, and I removed the nose for better access to the intake area.

A few rounds of PSR later, and this is the result:

Other mods include sawing 1/3 off the main gear door (otherwise the aircraft would sit on it instead of on the gear), and sanding the sides of the canopy down (too wide). Otherwise, it's OOB. Paint is Humbrol Metalcote.

You're a brave man in the PSR dept.!
Looks good.
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

I'd like to see some more pics when the canopy has been painted up. Nice work so far!

<_<  I knew I'd forgotten something.

Coming along nicely.  A question, the rear gear door, does it go that way?  ISTR the Harrier having an airbrake around the neck of the woods with split rear doors?

It seems to be based on this arrangement:

Very neat especially given the raw material; wouldn't it have been easier to carve it out of a block of plastic :) I wonder how long a mould can last before it finally dies...

QuoteBearing in mind Eastern Express are still using the Frog moulds for the Hawker Hunter F1 and Supermarine Attacker - both of which must date from around 1955 - I'd say the P.1127 has at least another decades worth in it.

Neat model, btw.
another ten years life?  yeah that i can belive. Its one tool thats not been flogged to death and back, so there must be a fair bit of time left before its totaly useless.

Nice bit of work there Harro  :D
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.
