The RN knew they were in trouble with little AEW and a short-legged SHAR CAP. A solution was devised in the way of a small flat top, nicknamed 'Plank'-once you walk 'er, there's no coming back ! Seen here on appraoch to Wideawake, a pair of Phantoms were launched to provide cover for the Island and during the now famous Black Buck raids. The 4 coccooned Phantoms were later launcehd in an all-out attack to regain Port Stanley. All four alighted on base w/o loss.....'






Of course I was gonna add all sorts of PE stuff, and do more pics.....but all the drunk neighbours sure didn't help much. Try expalining to the boys that you're going in early to build a plastic model..........

So what happend to the crews after the mission was complete???

The two crews that took off to defend the field at Wideawake landed, went to the mess, got fed, had a few beers with the tanker crews, and then went to their bunks.

The other four crews who attacked Stanley did so with the help of SHARs, GR.3s, and a bunch of Marines. After beating the defences into submission, they landed at the airfield, where two of them were quickly refueled and rearmed to cover the base.

And stuff like that......

For some reason on seeing this I've got Village peoples 'In the Navy' stuck in my head!  Nice stubby little carrier!

Terrible that, drunk neighbours kidnapping you & forcing beer than your throat, I've had it happen to me too & I feel for you mate!
