Quotewater needs a step-by-step how-to for the rest of us numpties ;)
And i wouldnt even get further than to where he explains us what materials he uses for it

cthulhu77

tissue paper, gel medium, white glue, future, and blue paint.

B777LR

Whats gel medium? Where can i get it? Is white glue the stuff you use to glue wood wiht? I have to travel to germany to get future!

cthulhu77

Gel medium is sold by art stores, for thickening acrylic paint into a paste...get the middle grade, the heavy stuff is too stiff to work with.
You don't need to use future...you can use any waterborne finish, such as BonaKemi (should be available for you easily...it's made in Sweden) gloss.  Basically, the same stuff.
And yes, white glue is just the stuff that you would use to bond paper or wood...stay away from the yellow glues though, they have too much bonding agent in them.

I am just about finished with typing up the paper, will post it asap.

Was there ever any doubt?  "What If" or otherwise, all of your models turn out as pure art.

Must've blown some minds when they saw your S-100.

Thanks!  You know what? The best compliment at the show came not from the trophy, but from another ship modeler, who said:
"I liked that build the best, because I never knew about the Germans using hydrofoils, that part really fascinated me, I am going to have to learn more about those ********..."  Hey, another whiffer is born!

Those, are the best accolades you can get. That, and the blast of doing the make-n-take with the kids...it is really inspiring.

HOG

I think it was nice of them to put the trophies in plastic bags to stop them getting wet.
I`ve dabbled my fingers in water a few times, worst was when I tried to do a tank climbing out of a stream with the run of, BUT THIS IS BL@@DY AWESOME.
Do us all a favour and don`t make any more models for a while so the rest can get our confidence back
Joking apart that is really a great build and deserved the awards!
