ok, this is gonna be my entry for the USAF GB. model wil be a 1/72 KM L-39C with Custom made USAF decals.

Back History:

In 1991, the USAF started seeking a replacement for the elderly T-37 Tweet training aircraft. requirements was that it had to be a cheap, easy to operate and light weight aircraft, with the possibility for externat stores for weapons and air combat training. at first Bae was offering the T-45D Goshawk (an advanced USAF version of the Hawk 100, witch was also concidered for the US Navy), but in the end the czech Aero Vodochody L-39 Albatros was selected as the winner.

the T-39 (the USAF designation for the L-39USA) has a glass cockpit, similar to that of the L-159, witch derived from the L-39. Northrop-Grumman was in charge of fitting the aircraft with western avionics, the engine was replaced with a singe J-85 engine, witch was also used in the T-38 Talon. the first T-39 was delivered to the USAF at Columbus AFB, mississippi, in 1995. a total of 120 have been delivered between 1995 and 2001.

The engine replacement doesn't really make sense.  Keeping the L-159's F124 would make much more sense.  The J85 has several deficiencies as an engine for a modern trainer, including no real de-icing capabilities. Other than that, though, this approach makes tremendous sense.

Evs right, the F124 was in the Albatross variant pitched for the JPATS trainer competition back in the early 90's.

BTW, you might want to change the desig, the T-39 Saberliner is still in use. ;)
