Thanks everyone.    Masking now done, but it's not painted yet.

BdB - When I was sanding it down, I did have the heretical thought that it would look equally appropriate in USN markings and the three tone blue scheme.    Fortunately, this moment of madness passed without the need for compulsory reindoctrination

JHM - sorry, it has a beaching gear. And I'd probably have to build a house extension  to accommodate the diorama base.  ^_^

Rat/GTX - count me in for any floatplane GB. I have plans to add a planing hulls to an Il-28 and Tu-22 Blinder but, with the Tu-22, I haven't decided how closely it should resemble one of the real Beriev and Myasischev supersonic flying boat projects. There is also the possibility of making a flying boat version of the Myasischev Bison, which would save a lot of work on the undercarriage and bomb bay of the A Model kit but I haven't yet summoned up the nerve to whiff a £150 kit. :ill:

Nor I matey, nor I, and probably never will. That's why I like the older, less refined kits, the kind that many will turn up their noses at. "Oh, those rivets are too large" (Ever heard of sandpaper?) "The prop spinner is a bit off" (Well MY version had this style!) "The landing gear could use some work" (Build it gear up, the bloody thing was meant to fly) <_<  Of course, I probably make some modelers cringe, wince, and scream blue murder when I find an old antique kit for a couple of bucks and whiff it, when a collector will want to buy it and never open the box.

I like this one very much. Never heard of float Tu-85 before (seems that I know nothing about aircrafts floatplane variants   )
On the other hand I remember a project drawn in paralel with the M-50 / M-52, the Myasichtvev M-70...

GTX, count me in your flaotplane GB with this float Skyraider II...
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Great project - look forward to seeing it finished!

I would go for it anyway.

The TU-22 Blinder flying boat is only held up by indecision as to the final shape (and lack of time  ^_^ ) but the Il-28 is a much more long term idea and is not yet approved as part of the current Five Year Plan  ;)
