A few years ago I read speculation  that the Chinese WZ-10 was going to be a licence built version of the Eurocopter Tiger and I built a Revell Tiger in Chinese markings. This was never one of my favourite builds (nothing wrong with the kit, just one of these one-damn-thing-after-another mishaps in the building process) and I never bothered repairing it when it was damaged at a model show.

However, even though the WZ-10 turned out to be an entirely different aircraft, the release of the Hobby Boss 1/72 Tiger prompted me to start on another Chinese Tiger and to consider restoring the old Revell model.

However, when I put the two kits together, they look like entirely different aircraft, especially around the engines and fin:

Photographs suggest that the Hobby Boss kit is correct but my knowledge of Franco-German helicopters could be written on the head of the proverbial pin. Without going into JMN rivet counting, does anyone out there know more - is the Revell kit a model of a prototype? Or of an original project drawing? Or just wrong?
(The Hobby Boss kit is the unpainted one)

My guess is the earlier kit was based on the prototype/demo bird, while the newer release is off the production aircraft.

cool what iff Chinese Tigre

of cource is doesnt resemble the initail production WZ-10

to build this model, i would use:
-the fuselage from an RAH-66 Commanche
-the canopy, main rotor blades, landing gear and the tailsection of the AW-129 Mangusta.
-tail rotor from an AH-64 Apache
-engines from the Tiger PAH-2.

sorry, got kinda carried away there  ^_^ , i love the model, the blue cockpit interior (russian style) really makes it look like a chinese indigenious design
on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

Cool, what's your job? The camo of Australian Tigers is awesome. I am really  looking forward to see them participating in the invasion of some insular state :D
