Just a question, German armour is not my strong point.  What kind of camo would late war flak wear if it was engaged in city defence?  Would this be different to field units?  I've tried a hunt on the web & I'm none the wiser!

Thanks!

Simon.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Hi Simon,
in the pics I've seen of urban based flak units they appear to be wearing the standard Luftwaffe feld-blau uniform, there would not be any logical reason for camouflage.
That said I suppose you could do an ad-hoc Berlin Gotterdamerung flak unit in mismatched bits of late SS cammo and standard uniform.

AFAIK there was no special camo for urban areas. Just a standard field unit camouflage.

On the other hand, I think you can paint whatever you want as long as you use standard Wehrmacht colours. You can always assume some local "painters" tried to improve camo.

Simon,

Dear. God. No!

Don't listen to them Simon!

Lest someone say it's "Bullshit!"

Thanks guys, thought it might be the case simply because I couldn't find any info.

Madoc,      !  Don't worry, they'll be no doubt in any way that this is 'bullshit' :D, the model is a bit off-the-wall!  Because of that though, & the fact it'll have no identification markings, I need to give it some kind of plausible paint job so that it can be recognised as German, same with the soldiers uniforms.  I've found that early war patterns tended to be done on unit level & didn't always match those set down & late war, things started going to hell & they either had to leave out or scratch up certain colours.  So there'll be plenty of scope for me to make up my own pattern in the realms of 'reality'!

I'm doing this build for the 1 Week GB:

Well, the standard early war camo was overall Panzer Grey.  From 1943 onwards the base camoflage colour was Dark Yellow (Tamiya's has a wonderful and distinctive smell, always reminds me of my childhood).

Over this Dark Yellow, Dark Green and/OR Dark Brown were applied in whatever scheme took the painters fancy - stripes, spots, wiggly lines, you name it.  So I would go with that, with a pattern of your choice :)

Thanks again!  I've found that very late war, Dark green was used as the base coat & I might gow with this as it'd provide a nice contrast to the weapon I'm mounting which will probably go in a nightfighter style camouflage.  Might make up my own patterns though!
