Hi all,
You know its been a good weekend when you can come home with sore feet, sore head and a lightend wallet. and so again this year the QMHE was an outstanding success. despite some filthy weather, with some areas getting almost half their anual rainfall in 2 hours or less!! almost 2000 people came through the doors, comp tables were full and the vendors did a roaring trade.
I went down with a mate and helped set up his stall on the friday afternoon, by lunch on saturday he had turned over nearly 150 kits!.
This year judging was held on the saturday night after the general public had left.i was looking at the small scale A/C that day thinking i'd hate to be judging it,i was then told that myself and another couple of guys would be judging that class....
With out exception all the classes were tough, every year at this show the bar gets raised higher and higher.
after judging had finnished we were treated to beer and pizza,a big thanks to QMHE and IPMS for that! later we found more beer ,Madrass currys and nifty little things with glazed cherrys and brollys in them.....
With a mixture of guilt and urgencey we absconded the motel room sunday morning and spent the day selling kits, buying kits and wheeling and dealing. managed to catch up with Greg there so it was good to put a face to the name.
Not much wiffing to report ,other than a nice aussie Abrams and a rather old and dusty FA18 based bird. However i did meet a bloody nice old chap who has finnished a set of vacform molds for a '32nd scale CA 15 he had a mock up on display and there is a slight possability this may be available as a limited run in the future...so watch this space..anyway heres some pix i'll spread them out over the next week or so...

Thanks Bluntie ! Looks like a great show. Love the Abrahms dio, and the F-18 thing is pretty funky looking. That giant CA15 looks like it will be quite the model.

Funny, tho, at first sight of the Lightning, I thought it was a finless whif...kinda hard to see the tail against the table in the background !

I think that's only the second time I've ever seen a model done as if it's just tucking up the gear after screaming off the ground. Should be done a lot more, IMHO.

I really hate to undermine the ship models, but those are multi-part toys.

Maybe they repainted it, I can't tell from the pics.  I just recognized the bases, I got one with my 1/700 scale Surcouf.

Super stuff Steve,

Thanks for sharing.  The LRDG Chev and P-39 are the bomb!!

Regards,

John

bluntie

Yeah the P-39 was a jewel ,my amateurish happy snapping does none of these justice, as an aside all 3 are Academy out of the box with aftermarket decals.
and the LRDG Chev was one of those rare models where you find little details almost hidden, every angle you look at it you seem to find something new.
As i mentioned earlier ,every year at this show the bar just keeps getting raised.
while i'm here might as well bung a couple more up.....

The most photographed model of the weekend...would like to have checked the guys referance  ;)
