Got an email today about the Smithsonian's "Great British Fly In" at the Udvar-Hazy Center at Dulles Airport.

It's an event to celebrate the RAF Centenary and the fly in list includes the Lancaster from Canada, a pair of Spits, Chipmunks, Tiger Moths, a Mitchell, Mustangs, a Tucano, a T-6 and a few other retired RAF types.  What is interesting is that the only 'modern' type on the fly in list is a Boeing P-8 Poseidon.  I think the first RAF Poseidon made its first flight late last year and is undergoing testing/training flights in the US I think, so could it be that we'll see it make an appearance at Dulles on April 15?

I'm planning on going!  Hopefully my Lancaster and Spit pics will also include a Poseidon MRA.1!
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

I'm surprised the RAF hasn't let one of its F-35's appear. Wouldn't be that hard as they are all still Stateside.

Mind you with the near permanent RAF presence at Nellis these days, I'm also surprised we haven't got any Tonka's or Typhoons available on that side of the pond either
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

They could have flown one of their Predators over as well.  ;)

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

It would make sense if the Poseidon is operating out of Patuxent NAS.  That's only about 20 mins from Dulles, vs all the way across the country for the stuff operating out of Nellis.  I think the F-35s are mostly operating out of MCAS Beaufort in SC.  Closer to Dulles but still a good haul compared to Pax River.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....
