Building my own what if Arleigh Burke destroyer here...........

............has gotten me curious to start a topic on what people think about the current "Flights" of the ship and what the class overall might have for future improvements or what missed opportunities could it have had in the past?

One picture which I found long ago on the Net, but don't remember where from, is shown below with various options for sensors and weapon fits.

Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

Just WHAT are those weird twin engined aircraft off to port of the two helos?  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I have no idea. Use your imagination and think of something.  ;D

Proposed ASW(?) for Zumwalt's proposed VSTOL Support Ship.  Think of it like a VSTOL S-3 Viking

So a random thought based around the shenanigans in my Post Apocalyptic randomness thread (to whit the worldbuilding, how hard would it be to convert the Burke hullform back to high pressure steam power plants, instead of gas turbine?

Very.

Especially if you wanted anything like the speed, performance & capability of the current vessels.

The boilers & steam turbines required would take up significantly more volume within the hull (at minimum twice the volume, probably more), thereby reducing the available volume for crew, weapons, munitions, electronics systems, etc.
