Hi all,Heres some stuff rolling around on the bench, the Spit is the 1/72nd Italeri kit with the floats, ventral strake, prop and spinner robbed from the awful old PM kit,an Eduard zoom P/E set and decals from the spares box.
The Zero is the great little Acadamey kit with an Eduard P/E set,i built this one as a test bed for the Life colour acrylics.this is great paint, having been a dedicated enamel user for years this stuff has turned me round,i was even brave enough to mask and spray the 'meatballs' [cant spell Honimarus!]
The Churchills are Airfix for the finished one,and Revell[matchbox] for the AVRE,
both have had lots of corrections and scratch building, they are destined for a small scale dio i have been wanting to do for years.
And after a bit of a modeling slump i needed some thing to get the mojo back,so i did something i have never done before ,a large scale figure!! in this case Dragons 'Shutze' a rather fearsom chap with more killing implements than Rambo!!
thanks for looking.  bluntie.

That's some superlative work indeed, Bluntie!  I really like your "sea spats" and I think the weathering on that tank is amazing!!!

Bugger me Steve, I thought the Spit was superb but as the other images started loading (dial up speeds suck!), the jaw which was already dusting the ground started to get some serious gravel rash!!!

Wow.....great work, Bluntie ! That Spit could be 32nd scale......awesome job on all that small scale stuff ! Love the Spit....just gorgeous. Also love the tanks. The grass and mud coming out of the one ? Unbelievable....gimme some tips, please ? I need to know how to do that one !

Some really beautiful builds! Your weathering and paint are something to cause a great amount of envy on this end!

Thanks very much every one,
I must admit i'm pretty pleased with the spit, one of those builds i have been promising myself for ages !
The small scale armour is something i am revisiting after quite a few years, and i had nearly forgotten how much fun it is! there are some Dragon kits in the stash so more to come yet..
The weathering is pretty straight forward Capt'n, grab your recently built tank/truck/armoured car and go over all the engine grills/hatches /road wheels and such with straight black. then with flat earth spray all of the vertical surfaces, lastly all of the horozontal surfaces get a coat of desert yellow. i use Tamiya enamels for this, then the top coat. in this case Life colour acrylics slightly thinned and build up the final colour, so i 'spose you could call it colour pre-shading, the idea is to create artificial shadows to add depth and body to the subject.after that ..oil stains, chips and scratches. finaly dust and mud, pastel chalk for dust, and for mud like on the Churchill Mr surfacer dabbed into place with a cut down brush and in this case i diced up an elcheepo brush from a craft shop and worked the bits into the surfacer before it dryed, bit 'o paint and some pastel to finish.an other thing to do is to weigh the thing down, both the Churchills are half full of nickel off cuts ,this helps them 'sit' flat on their tracks.
Hope this helps
