With the failure of the British-backed coup in 1941, Yugoslavia continued as a member of the axis. The ZMAJ concern had good results from experimentally fitting a DB 601 engine in one of the Hurricanes that they were building,
,
so they took out a license to adapt the DB 605 as used in the Bf 109G. With a 20mm FF cannon, four 13mm MG 131 machine guns, good handling and maintainability the Hurricane DB became a favourite with Balkan air forces.
Sources were the Airfix 1/72 Hurricane II/IV, a scrapped Airfix Bf 109G,Falcon canopy and loads of Miliput! Markings adapted from the Matchbox Fury and the spares box.
