While I've been sorting and recovering from the damage to several of my F-2 projects (ceiling lamp cover fell into my work area) I decided to start a 32nd scale Academy F-16.  It's been over 20 years since I tried the big scale so it's kind of a test run, of sorts, and thought a whif might be fun also.  So, either a JASDF or maybe a USN version.
The only thing I've really decided on at the moment is it will have the parapack tail with some added ECM bumps, probably the small mouth intake and PW engine parts, and since I'm leaning towards JASDF ... I thought maybe a JASDF aggressor scheme (I've got a spare 2Bobs decal sheet available).  I'm hoping to start a Tamiya Viper later in the year so this Academy kit will also serve as a test run for the Tamiya kit too, hence I thought I'd try to practice a little detailing in the wheel wells.   The work so far,  first up the intake assembly, still in tape ...

And a couple of the wheel well area with some of the added detail so far

The central fore-aft and sideways bulkheads aren't glued yet but just in place to help position other items.  The shiny spots are the most recenly glued items and will be touched up with some steelwool.  Visible are some of the places that have been pre-drilled to accept plumbing (gotta round up some solder today) and the following pics are some 'wiring harnesses' I've made ... ie the plug ends will just be glued in place vs having to drill out the receptors for them ... again, just trying to see what works best.

all for now, feel free to offer suggestions on the plumbing and wiring as I'm still trying to figure those aspects out

Okay, I'm probably going to get more than I bargained for, here, but what aress are you looking for plumbing information on?  I can't access the f-16 drawings at work since I'm on a different program, but I can wander down to and through the F-16 part of the shop occassionally on my way to where they're assembling F-35s.  I don't promise anything, but I'll do what I can to help.

You won't have to watch it too closely, Ian...it's 32nd scale !

;D

Looking good ! It'd be nice to see a coin or somat in the pics, get an idea of the size of that beast.

thanks for the comments, guys.  Picked up some solder and wire wrap wire yesterday to continue plumbing out the wheel wells (didn't actually do any work though).  Did work on sanding the intake assemblies and that is moving along better than I'd expected.  A second round of sanding today should have it ready for paint ... gonna try the 'seal off one end and fill the intake with white paint' trick and see how it works.
Cap'n Canada wanted some scale perspective so here you go ... the 32nd wheel well with a 48th F-2 well and a tin of Xtracolor and bottle of MM paint ... then F-16's in all three scales (32, 48, 72)

That's some great detailing Gary!

That is some great detailing ! Awesome stuff. And is that a row of 48th scale ejection seats I spy in the one photo ?

Thanks again,
Yeah, Cap'n, those are some seats for some 48th F-16s ... A, B, D in 48th (the B and D are for the wife).  Had to look as there's a similar pile of F-2 seats.
And now, for the cadre of 'Viper lovers' on this site  ;D  As I mentioned earlier, a ceiling lamp cover somehow backed off it's screw mounting and fell into a group of F-2 and F-16s under construction ... 10-12 inch half dome, heavy glass ... really did some damage although the glass itself survived    I have a couple of the small xacto mitre boxes, usually one wrongside up with groups of parts that I'm cleaning up ... well the glass dome nicked the end of the mitre box and it flew up into the air spinning like a ferriswheel spewing parts and mini drill bits in many directions  :banghead:  ... I'm still looking for that stuff.  Plus many of the parts that got damaged were the same part from several kits, mostly the nose landing gear leg from the F-2's.  Right now, I've recovered one intact F-2A that now has to be done gear up.  This minor calamity is what pushed me to start the Acad F-16, but I hope to get back to the F-2 soon.  And that concludes the entertainment for today  -_-

Ridiculously exciting superdetailing going on there.  Um, do you happen to do the same treatment to---oh, I don't know----1:32 scale extremely ugly helicopters??????
