Found an article by Max Perutz. Has a lot of technical info. in it about pykrete and Habakkuk if anyone is interested.

Holy gravedigging old threads, Batman!  :o

There are so many errors in that video, I don't even know where to begin.
The most obvious one is that the commentator STILL gets the length of the Habakkuk wrong at being 1,200 meters (3,000+ feet).  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:
The Habakkuk was actually planned to be 2,000 feet long.
And it did NOT take the Habakkuk prototype three years/summers to melt and sink to the bottom of Patricia Lake in Alberta.
Nor was the prototype made with any pykrete. It was made with regular ice cut from the lake itself.
I hate Youtube videos about the Habakkuk and refuse to pretty much watch them or use any information from them for research purposes.
The people who create them just keep getting things wrong time after time. They fail to do proper investigative research. All they seem to care about is getting their 15 minutes of fame on Youtube and getting tons of "Likes".  :banghead:

I hate YouTubers anyway.

Many of them know NOTHING about the subject they're yacking on about. Some prat has done one about the APT recently, and before I was 5 mins into it I'd picked up a dozen mistakes. I'm working on a LONG comment telling him just where he's wrong!  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

True of many, but not all. Rex's Hangar and Ed Nash Military Matters tend to to do good aircraft vids, or at least I personally don't pick up many mistakes in them. Aircrew Interview can't really go wrong since all he has to do is listen, and Sandboxx News is an actual defence reporter.

The one I try to kill with fire every time I see it is "Genies were intended to shoot down formations of Soviet bombers"...

Yup, Ed Nash, Rex's Hangar and Greg's airplanes and automobiles are some of my favs to have playing while at the bench.
Must've watched Greg's Super prop series complete playlist at least a couple of times. :mellow:
For contemporary stuff then that's Millennium 7.
Military Aviation History also has good stuff and for floating things, Drachinifel is a good one.
