Just been over flown by two low flying (1000-2000ft) IL 38s. (May?)
Both in overall light grey(similar to gull/dk gull gray)
Radi traffic said that the two Norwegian F-16s that were intercepting them had to refuel ,so the IL38's came closer into the Norwegian shelf to have a look around the Northern oil fields.

Both performed very much like the local Orions albeit a bit more "smokey"

Is Mr P up to his old tricks again??

Hey, bud, you keep your head down whilst you're up there, who's going to go drinking with me if you end up on the pointy-end of a Russkie torpedo ! ;D

Might be a good time to tell your story about being buzzed by the SOVIET 's in the North Sea all those years back ! - I haven't heard that tale for a while and you tell it very well !

probably. at the very least russia is flexing its muscles so to speak.

iirc, the NATO code name for the IL-38 was may.

Mr P flexing his muscles again? He has been flexing them for about a year now. Think RDAF F-16s have intercepted Tu-160s 5 times now. Too bad the Blackjacks never get close enough for me to see them... (at least when i become a fighter pilot i can see them )

nev

report on BBC news tonight about increased russian flights (a bit late but nevermind).  Some corking close up footage of Bears and Blackjacks.

@ Dork - a May?  Cool   And working on the rigs you'll be able to afford the Amonster 1/72 kit!

What a sight that must have been ! I used to spend alot of time looking at the sky when I was offshore....hoping ( in vain I guess....I don't think the CAF can afford the fuel to send an Aurora on a 600km round trip ! ) to see some MPA type buzz the rig.

Did the RSTC or anybody get any piccies ?
