If you're looking for a different light COD aircraft for this period, I've got info on the Martin JR2M Mercury derivative of the AM-1.

Here's a few:

AD Skyraider: use of attack version by RN, also French, Canada, RAN. Includes the AD-4N and AD-5N as well.

AM Mauler: Used by reserve squadrons not called up for Korea: Have some get called up and sent to the war zone for a combat eval. Foreign use by the above in place of Skyraiders. J2RM would NOT have been a COD designation, AM-1R would have.

AF-2S/W Guardian: ASW aircraft that replaced TBM in USN service. Export to RN, RAN, RCN, French.

F4D Skyray: export to RN, French, RAN, Canada (in place of F2H Banshee)

F2H Banshee: use by RN, RAN, etc.

F9F Panther/Cougar: only exports were to Argentina, but flew land-based ops only.
Export to Commonwealth navies and French.

F10F Jaguar: first VG carrier fighter (1953) Cancelled before production commenced. Have the aircraft put into USN/MC service and export customers.

FJ Fury series: Used IRL by only USN/MC. FJ-3 and -4 used as fighters, -4B as attack aircraft by USMC. Export to RN, French, Australia, Canada.

Well, the Martin data I have calls it a JR2M, I'm not disposed to argue at this date.  I'll have to post this pic later, as soon as I get a storage spot out online.

QuoteAs for the RN using the mauler, forget it. It couldn't be accomodated in the hangars on our own carriers. In any case, we had the Firebrand then the Wyvern, and were broke and couldn't buy them anyway

Hi Lee

Just say the malta class or some of them were further along in the building schedule and were thus completedduring the early 50's . Say the Korean War urged their earlier completion rather than cancellation. These carriers shouls be able to handle the bigger and heavier aircraft being in similar size to the US Midway class.

There was a way in the 1950s and 60s to send advanced US aircraft, armor, ships, etc. to countries that couldn't afford them: MAP (Military Assistance Program). This was a grant program where the cost of the equipment was paid for by the US government. NATO countries were the prime benefactors, but ROK, Japan, Australia, Iran, Pakistan, and several South American countries all benefited. Different from FMS (Foreign Military Sales): this means cash only, please.
