Someone on this board and I can't remember who, said What if the Char B was built under license in the US?

I got to thinking that if this did in fact happen! Over time the design would evolve and maybe end up looking something like this. The result of a drunken night between a Char B and a late model Sherman. :drink:

I decided to call it a Pershing because Charmen was a little silly ;D

The model is a mash up of the the revell re-boxing of the matchbox Char B kit, and a new trumpeter Sherman kit.

I widened the the hull so that the turret would fit because the Char B hull is to narrow.
The upper deck was made up from the Char B kit deck and sheet plastic. The rest is a mash of kit parts and scratch built bits.

I have to hand it to matchbox the detail on the Char B parts was fantastic for a mould of this age.

I should try and replicate this in 1/35th.

That would be me.

Nice kitbash.  I always thought the Char B1 was a big tank, but it looks puny with that big ole Pershing Turret on there - although the hull is 1/76 and turret 1/72?

Absolutely fantastic Sisko! I love the way you've combined the two tanks so convincingly! It's got this wonderful "outdated" look to it with the Char B carriage which is well complimented by the killer Sherman turret. The early-war markings and perfect weatehring are icing on the cake! You've created a real classic!

Ah thanks for that Nev. You really set my mind in motion with that one.

Yes the turret is 1/72.

I didn't know the Cahr B kit was 1/76. Don't think that it would have changed much in the mods I made.

Super!! Looks like something right out of 'Panzer Front'.
Brilliant piece of work!!

That is an odd looking thing.  But I like it! I've always had a fondness for those two-gunned tanks.
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

I love it A different looking tank Very well done
Yeah,I know the load is late. But the voices keep telling me to pull over and clean the guns.

I know very little about tanks (surprise!) but I do know a quality model when I see one----this is it!  Great job.  I'll go look up some history on the "real" one to better understand the mods (other than the turret itself) you made.
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Now that looks just like it should have been! Quite convincing and a beautiful build

Thanks! Glad people liked it.

As far as mods go it wasn't that much of a chore. The way the matchbox kit is designed widening the hull was really quite straight forward.

My next one to come is a long barrel version of the leman russ tank. This is on the bench at the mo and I will be starting a thread about it soon as I have some pics.
