i love everything i see about this model, and especially since its 1/144
nice work there m8

Thanks, Nils!  I'd been put off 1/144 some time ago by a dodgy Airfix Viggen kit.  When I heard of the increase in popularity of the scale with good kits by Revell & others, I thought I'd give it a try.  I was quite impressed with this Revell kit, although there is some room for improvement.  I've bought a few more, including a Hunter FGA.9, a E-2 & Comrade Anatloy sent me a grab bag of 1/144 parts, which I was suprised to find contained four full kits (all Dragon), another FA/18, an A-10, aan A-6 and an F-14.  So I've got plenty of nice kits to be getting on with, not to mention the An-124 I've got in the stash.....

Thanks for that info Simon.  I guess if I look on Don Colour they might have some other references for the rest of the RAL range.  Plum forgot about that one!

Mav

Your welcome Jon.  It's worth looking at the IPMS Stockholm Color Charts too, they'll give you equivalents for many paints.  It's not perfect & it's worth double checking, but it's a good guide.

Thanks Panzer!  I'm quite honoured to have converted a self confessed Hornet Hater!  If it's just the BOG aspect of it you don't like, maybe try putting one in camo?
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Wow, there's no stopping the boy now!!

FWIW, the Luftwaffe actually evaluated the F-18 (along with F-16, F-20 and Mirage 2000) in the early 80s as an F-4F replacement, but in the end went for the ICE upgrade.
Between almost-true and completely-crazy, there is a rainbow of nice shades - Tophe

Mossie,

Now you need to build a companion F-14 to park alongside the Hornet.  :dalek:

Thanks again guys!

Nev, thanks for the info, never knew that.

Jeff, hmm, F-14 in Marineflieger colours, nice idea!  I'd thought about putting the A-6 I've got in the earlier Bassaltgrau/Lichtgrau/Dayglo but I'll have to find some more Marineflieger decals which basically means getting hold of the older Revell/Matchbox Tornado kit.  I've got some French decals which I'd thought about for the A-6, I'd pop some Exocets on it.  I probably wont' be building one of the 1/144 kits for a while as I'm concentrating on kits for the Nationals, unless I need a quick build break from it all!
