The Olympus's on this Swedish project are not those used on Concord.
Their either OL21 or OL22.

The DH Gyron was more powerful.

And the Conway could deliver more thrust but for a lower maximum ceiling.

The RB.122 would deliver more thrust at supersonic speeds and at higher altitudes.

But it would need to made of high temperature resistant materials.

The Fairy Delta III however was designed for increases in thrust to push it above mach3.

The French design seems quite logical, though as with all mach 3+ machines, where you carried the missiles and how you released them would have been a problem.
To win without fighting, that is the mastry of war.

Zen, all I meant was that the A-36 would need something more powerful than the Olympus 593 to push it past mach 3, or it'd need two of them, not that it was originally meant to take that variant.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

QuoteI'm really enjoying these French designs that you keep coming up with, it's about time that Ian Allan Publishing launched a 'French Secret Projects' series. The amount that you pull out of the hat Archie, you could write them!

I'm also a member of "secret projects" where the administrator Overscan is in relation with Tony Buttler itself. I don't know how much advanced or planned  the book on french project is... but considering the books on the British projects, this could be terrific!!!
aparently there was two big periods for french mach 3, the late 50's (Trident III and IV, Griffon III and Leduc 022-02) and the late 60's (the mega Mirage).

Zen I know that the Olympus variants were really differents... Mossie, I remember something about the growth potential of the Olympus.
In the late 70's there was this improved Concorde project, the Concorde B. Well, they have managed to even increased the power of the Olympus!!! This engine was really an incredible achievement...
Wait a minute...
SHAME!!!

We forgot the canadian part of the "high-thermal mach" : the Arrow mk3 !!!

French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Honestly I think the first french aircraft which could have exceded mach 3 could have been the Leduc 022 number 2.
to say the things simply, the Griffon worked perfectly, but it's light alloy structure limited it's top speed to mach 2.19.
For the Leduc, it was the inverse problem... stainless steel structure, but difficulties to accelerate and break the sound barrier... maybe the 02 could have solved the problem (it had to be better aerodynamics, and an atar-9 engine) but the plane was cancelled before flying in February 1958.
good article here

There's a Leduc 022 at Le Bourget museum, and I'm asking if it's not the -02, which never flew... in this case, this is a mach 3 capable aircraft :)
what they waiting for ???

It would also need a fully-variable inlet instead of the simple inlet the design had.

With something like a souris for example ?

On the underside, yeah.  That'd be one approach.  The one I'd consider showed up years ago in an AIAA paper, it ws a 2-D fully variable inlet for the F-16 that had the forward-most portion at the bottom (i.e. a shark-mouth look to it).  If someone wanted to do a "different" F-16XL, that'd be nice to see.

Great news on the Mega Mirage, guys! Check "Le Fana de l'aviation" of this month, and look page 14.
Well done, Alangua! Lovely 3-view...  ;)
