It's the 25th anniversary of GI Joe vs. Cobra.

A lot of the GI Joe vehicles fom the small scale line came from prototype or pure theoretical designs.

So make your own.

Or make it Cobra.

Slap some rotating engines and a turret on an A-10 and make a Rattler, or maybe, make a zwilling version and make a Rattler II!!!  Maybe GI Joe needs a battleship to go with their carrier, the USS Flagg...

Make a tank, make a soldier, make a plane, make a ship.  Make it GI Joe or Cobra.

There would only be one hard and fast rule.

When you've completed your model, you'd either have to yell "YO JOE!!!" or "COBRA!!!" as appropriate.

Out of interest, how tall are these action figures, I'm looking for some that are 6" (150mm).

good idea, i have some custom made Cobra logo decals, i could use them on a new fighter, maybe a MIG-29

I'm more than in! My uncle and I used to play with G.I. Joes when I was a kid, and we still have them somewhere. I needed inspiration for my 1/72 A-10, and I've found it. Just have to gather the spares. For some reason I keep thinking of a Sinden(sp?) in Cobra markings, as well. Or that He-162 derivative with a new tail, swept wings, and 2 V1 engines. Anyway....

These were called Action Force over this side of the pond & the bigger version Action Man.  I had tons of both as a kid & my brother would get the 'Battle' comics which by then were called 'Battle Action Force'.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Would this mean that there'd be no slug-throwing guns, just lasers?

I figure it could be from Action Force, the GI Joe cartoon, or the comics.  Which pretty much means any level of lethality from "I can't hit the broadside of a barn with my gun shaped flashlight" up to "I just ganked 7 POWs in a trench with my SAW."

Oh, and the 25th anniversary is for the 3 3/4" line of GI Joe vs. Cobra to answer the earlier question.

The figures from the 1980s are 3.75 inch, or 1/18 scale.  That's the same as the current Star Wars figures and some of the aircraft offered by 21st Century Toys.

Hehe...  I did a model up in this vein this year.

Here's a Cobra EC-121D.  I imagined in the backstory that Cobra Commander had a thing for military versions of post-WWII airliners.  Seeing as how Cobra had an inexplicably endless supply of money, I figured he'd buy 1 or 7 planes for his own amusement.

As for a GI Joe GB, I'd want to get it in before the bastardized movie comes out.

I'm thinking maybe a P-23 version of the F-23 (similar to how the P-14 Skystriker is a variant of the F-14), maybe a Rafale done up as a heavy Firebat (the old red one from the 80's, not the goofy new one), maybe even an Iowa class BB modified into the USS Montana like from the old cartoon series.

This site could be useful (the Yojoe.com vehicle archive).
