I remember building the kit back in,ohh, 1986ish when I was stationed at RAF Kinloss.I remember it was about 1/48 scale ish & was moulded in dark metalic blue plastic.
Looking good so far! ;D

Very interesting.  I'll be watching this thread as you progress.  Looking forward to seeing the finished product.  It looks like you've gotten off to a great start.
The Corps is a department of the Navy? Yeah, the Men's department.

I've found it a fairly nice kit to build thus far. Some of the alignment pins etc I've had to chop off as they aren't terribly well, um, aligned

Recommended! Talk about value for money!

Re helmet for JAFO - get me a 1/32 baseball cap and I'll put it in his seat ;)

Thanks for the paint recommendations, a roadtrip to the LHS - or stroll to SuperCheap Auto - may well be on the cards.

Oh have some updated pics to pop up later tonight :)

Also also I'm doing their Airwolf kit as a speedbuild and its going together swimmingly....except the sponson fit aint great....and I didn't put in the interior....

Dun duhhhn. dundundunduhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhn, dunduhhn, dundunduun-dun-da-da-duuuhhhhhhhn!

Gotta de-fog the canopy, then that goes on and it's time for paint time!

I suppose the real question is will it be Blue Thunder or Bad Wolf 1?

Looking good Zac!

ps. Blue Thunder was cool but not as cool as Airwolf!!
Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.

Sorry Zac,
didn`t think you might be rattlin`. I seem to remember somthing about the Chevy colour at the time. From memory, it`s either this or the Airwolf kit, there was problems with glazing fit and as this has all that glass I think it might be this.
cheers  :drink:

Nick - BT all the way! I missed that episode of the good Doctor :(

Damian - I grew up watching Blue Thunder, taped from TV.....whereas I was only introduced to The Lady at age 12 ;)

Nils - yes yes yes YES!!!!!

HOG - Don't worry, Airwolf's glazing fit is absolutely ATROCIOUS!!!!!!! Mind you, I may need to try bending the BT canopy a bit as it's quite pinched near the bottom....not to mention all fogged up.....and a corner broken off.....ah, the joys of PRC Quality Control....

Is the clear plastic to big for the opening or too small ?  Too big, you can put the plastic into very hot (almost boiling) water and then bend it to fit...tape it in place.
For the fogging, dip it in Future (or something similar) and let dry overnight.  You can also use Novus plastic polish. Krystal Kleer (from Microscale) will fill in the broken bit, just do it in small amounts, if you apply too much too fast, it will stay white.

I am truly impressed with the work you have done so far...looking forward to more pics!
