Is FROG Mirage III the same mold as Pioneer/PM ?

Thanks a lot

According to the PAK-20 book I've got Carlos, the Pioneer kit is their own, at least it doesn't show any connection to any other company except PM Models which is Pioneer.  For the Frog entry it has Chematic, DFI, Eastern Express, NFZP & Novo as the other companies which used those moulds.

Cheers,

No they are not the same. The PM kit has some accuracy issues but the old Frog kit makes up into a nice model, but you will need to thin down the intake lips. It also has raised detail. The Frog kit is available from Eastern Express, amongst others.

The PM kit makes excellent landfill.

Nope the Airfix, Heller, Frog and matchbox kits all predate it and are much better than it. Its a shame Airfix lost the links with Heller as thier Mirage III/V kit would have been a better basis for Argie Mirage & Daggers  :banghead:.

Interesting comment Geoff, but it would seem to be the other way around, Airfix made their own Mirage III (kit #292).  I remember making the Airfix kit many moons ago, back in the early 60's, long before any association with Heller.  It wasn't until the early 80's that Airfix and Heller moulds were mix-&-matched together.

Airfix's Mirage III C is an old kit with all that this implies but is quite accurate, at the end is a Mirage you can work a little to improve it. Heller's is a Mirage IIIE or Mirage 5. the difference between real world Mirage III C and III E or 5 is a plug aft of cockpit.

Look at relative positions of air intake and canopy in these drawings

no , You have misunderstood me , it was what we in Turkey had , the pilot was so slim that I had thought why had they bothered in the first place , but it was the only game in town  .

no builder , but ı used to account for nearly 40 percent of kit sales in the city .
