USN Report on British WWII Ordnance

TallEng found this very useful link to a USN report on British WWII Ordnance so I thought I'd post it here as well

Thanks Keith

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

This is fascinating. I'm archiving this.

Thanks!

I'm curious about something: With most European nations using cylindrical/circular fins, the US using box-fins, and the Germans just using fins.  I'm curious if

  • The USAAF box-fins provided superior/inferior ballistic accuracy over the RAF counterpart
  • The USAAF box-fins provided superior/inferior manufacturing ease (on one hand you're taking four pieces of metal and welding them, but the other could be made with a huge slip-roll)
  • The USAAF box-fins were prone to failure at a rate higher than the RAF fins

That being said, I'd like to remind everybody in a manner reminiscent of the SNL bit on Julian Assange, that no matter how I die: It was murder (even if there was a suicide note or a video of me peacefully dying in my sleep); should I be framed for a criminal offense or disappear, you know to blame.
