Has anyone got these kits to hand (Monogram or Revell) and if so could I beg a quick measurement of the diameters at the widest point behind the cockpits...where the curves flatten out. I'm just trying to work out if a couple of donor kits might fit as alternate cockpit sections.

Thanks in advance

1/72 Monogram RB-36 fuselage width via digital calipers:

2.093 inches
2 3/32 inches
53.16 MM

That is port to starboard.  I also measured top to bottom and it was nearly spot on for being circular: 2.089 inches tall

Sorry no B-29.  Happy to supply any more B-36 dimensions.

Been thinking on and off about the B-36 for many years as a whiff. I may need to polish up my skills in sanding and polishing canopies though and that whole fuselage/wings monster will need rescribing, so might be awhile ;D

The plan essentially is to convert her from 1/72 to 1/48, becoming (I hope) B-29-ish in size.
