Mr Muscle oven cleaner is good for removing old enamels, Airfix Humbrol etc but sometimes Gloss colours need a few coverings to get them off. Doesn't agree with some acrylics, had some problems with Halfords Primers on one model in particular and acrylic I hand painted didn't come off anywhere as well as the enamels do. will add some before and after pics of an Airfix Meteor 3 later.

So its ok for most paint, a couple of areas were stripped, cockpit and U/c wells but thats minor. Gloss paint takes a couple of goes and as mentionned Halfords primers and Airfix/Humbrol acrylic paints did not work very well either.

I used to use Mr Muscle,but found of late the formula doesnt always work well.
I was told that the formula changed to allow for the new  ovens....how true I dont know..
I do know it didnt always work.
I spent a fortune trying to buy different types of Mr Muscle before settling on the FPS.

Revell Acrylic Airbrush clear is very good as a paint stripper and it seems ok on clear plastic too.

I've had more problems with Fairy Power Spray.  It doesn't appear to like the new Humbrol Acrylics.  I've had two models that I've tried to strip with the Power Spray & I've used Humbrol Acrylics on both.  At first I thought it might be a dodgy batch so I got a second bottle (can always use it as oven cleaner I suppose!) but it didn't make any difference.

Firstly was the Spit that I was doing up in Spanish Republican colours, I'm still trying to get to grips with the air brush & cocked up the underside.  Not to worry I thought, Fairy Power Spray will do the trick, but no.  It softened it but didn't shift it easily.  Same with my F11F that I did earlier in the year, after seeing Spinners CGI RAF Tiger I thought I could do it in time for Telford, but same result.  It took several hours of scrubbing with a green kitchen scourer (tooth brush just wouldn't touch it) to get to the point shown in the photo.  Both attempts have used at least three dowsings of the stuff & the Spit I left for 24 hours at one point, to no avail.

Looks like I've ruined a perfectly good model in the Tiger, broke several pieces of it whilst scrubbing.   Might be recoverable if I can find something else that strips the paint better.
