I am in need of two larger spatted wheels for my LSR project.
Something in the 3/4" to 1" (20-25mm).

Thanks

Phil,

Sounds like you need to find a 1/32nd scale Lysander, 1/24th scale Stuka, or a 1/48th scale Ju-52.  None of these are blessed with extra wheels for a "spatless" version.  Perhaps you can try to make your own spats from some plastic spoons?

The deli section of your local Safeway grocery store has black plastic soup spoons that are yours for the asking.  These spoons are approximately the size you are seeking and with a bit of sanding, can be trimmed down to create a left and right half of your spat.  It might be a cheaper alternative to busting up a very expensive model kit.  Then all you would need is a suitable wheel for each of your spats.

Jeff,
I have contemplated making my own but just doing the simple conversion of the aircraft will tax my skills.

I keep wondering if I can get away with something smaller like a 48th scale Stuka (from one put on floats or converted to retractable undercarriage) or Val.

1" tall would be 6' in 72nd and that seems too big but 1/2" seems too small.

Got a package from BDB yesterday with a couple of lovely Ju-52 spats.

Now, just gotta cut down the tail, delete the underfuselage fuel tank, maybe add some canards to keep her on the ground and get some custom decals made.
