Following a successful test program, the F-107 was selected for production by the USAF.  Along with the F-100 and the F-105, it was the core of the USAF fighter fleet in the 1960's.  At about the same time, a number of NATO nations were looking for a modern fighter to replace their older fighters, F-84's, F-86's, Hunters, etc.  The F-107 was entered into this competition along with the F-104.  Eventually, it was decided that the F-107 was a better all around fighter than the F-104 and it became the standard fighter for a number of NATO members.  Other nations purchased the Ultra-Sabre as well making it one of the most common fighters during the 60's and 70's.  But by the 1990's, their age was showing and the F-107's were being replaced by newer fighters, primarily the F-16.  The Italians remained one of the last users of the type.  Along with a number of upgrades during the 1980's and early 1990's the F-107's received new paint jobs with dull grays.  During Desert Storm, the Italians sent a squadron as part of their commitment.  Show is one of these aircraft with a typical load out of Mk-20 Rockeyes and AGM-65 Mavericks.

CAF Raptor feelin' blue. Kinda inspired by the 'air superiority blue' scheme the prototype F-15 first flew in. Main thread here http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,21923.0.html

Here, ladies and gentlemen,we have the Egyptian Airforce, who declined the F-16 in favour of the F-20 Tigershark in the 70's, and in favour of keeping them in service, and improving on them, buddied up with the Russians for an engine and avionics refit.  Loading an RD-33 into the engine, with big scoop intakes, they ramped up the output of the engine.  In addition, they added Russian payload compatibility, as they aircraft seen here is fitted with R-77 "Adder" Medium Range AAM's, and a Kh-31 Ramjet-boosted missile.  Radar Stations beware!

Take a normally grey aircraft and paint it in colour - my Chinese MiG-25 in a rather vivid blue scheme.
