Jeff...my thoughts exactly! "The Avenging, Helldiving Dauntless"...no!
Anyhow...that's something to think about. This photo shows both wings on and control surfaces scribed.

You're making some excellent progress, Glenn! I think this bird would look killer in a North Atlantic camo scheme.

Anyone have a clue as to what Grumman would have named this beast if it had gone into production?
How about Nemesis? ;D

You know, that might work.  Better than the off the cuff name I came up with as the "Revenger" but I would have imagined that Grumman would have coined some catchy "Cat" type name for it.

The logic behind the name is that Avenger is one of the synonyms of Nemesis... as in an obsessed avenger, and as the XTB2F was the follow on to the TBF...  ;D

Also Grumman only used the Cat apellation for fighters.

Yeah Jeff...I can't use a 'cat' name, otherwise it would have been Puma or Mountain Lion. But, Revenger sounds good as does Nemesis.
Anyhow....this shot shows the Radome on the port wing. This was done with E'green tubing cut to shape to fit around the leading edge with a domed end made from balsa dowl. Sanded, bogged, sanded and tomorrow, the last production shot before I 'shelved' it after working on her for 18 months....as I needed to make something else.

Just a thought, I'll call her, 'The New Avenger'......think it's been done!

Glenn

The last shot....the tailplanes and rudder. These were made from balsa, with the control surfaces scored and glued in place with a couple of 2mm wire pieces pushed inside and drilled into the tail, as spars. When assembled, a couple of coats of resin over the rudder and tailplane and shot and shelved.
It's funny, but I finished this, 'Nemesis or Paladin' and started another US bomber. This model, at least they built two of them....!
