MH-53, 12SQN RAAF

Finished this on today, it shows I have a long way to go with washes

Oh well I will keep trying. This is the Italeri 1/72 MH-53 Sea Stallion kit. Decals from the spares box. Miniguns from the Italeri OH-58 kit.

Markings are for 12SQN RAAF. The CH-53 was a contenter for the RAAF heavy lift helo back in the 70s. The CH-47 won out on the day.

I think the MH-53 looks a lot better in my version of RAAF markings I chose the MH kit as it was all I had and figured with the large are they have to cover would need the longer range the large fuel tanks of the Sea Stallion would offer.

I think it looks quite the part. Try shooting the heli without a flash, it will show your wash work better. If you want to bring out more details, just grab a set of cheap oil pastels from your local art/craft store, grind them up, and brush them on...it will set off your dark washes like crazy.

I wouldn't do too much though, to me, it looks very convincing now. Nice build !

Brilliant build A747,

The Sea Stallion certainly looks the part and at least it's RAAF not Army  (Still seriously peeved about the grunts taking our birds!).

Cammies look bloody superb from here and I wouldn't go too heavy on the weathering unless she's had a 'rough life'.

I think the Aussi scheme is perfect on that helo, or is it that that helo is perfect for the Aussie scheme
