Had this idea twirling around for a while, finally got it started. The back story will involve the Ontario Department of Lands and Forests picking up an early model Spitfire Mk22 for high speed forest fire spotting. It will have to be an early model because I'm using the old Testors/hawk model, and Wooksta was nice enough to provide the tidbit that the rudder is too small for all but the early variants of the 22. There are other limitations with, but since the price certainly wasn't one of them then it became the obvious candidate. I'm not going to bother scratching a pit and installing wheels, it will be in-flight. The massive rivets have been sanded down, and the thick edges of the oil cooler lips have been thinned. Paint scheme will be close to what many Ontario Government aircraft have carried for years, often with slight variations:



Still don't know what to do about the registration, not sure if there are decals out there with the correct font and size. Might be looking for help there.

For the serial, you could simply take a knife to the decal and swap the letters around.  Check the Canadian Civil Aircaft Register to see if a serial exists, or at least is is on something obscure enough that no-one will know/care.

OMG, an old HAWK Spitfire 22. I have not seen one of those in years, although I still have the propeller from one.
Ah, memory lane, a bit like nostalgia but not as good as it used to be.

Not too worried about the sequence, it's the size. Haven't seen the decals for the Hobbycraft Otter, and don't know if there are many around these days. Time to check the dusty back shelves of every shop in the Toronto area. And that won't be easy!

I think the first Hawk 22 kit I saw was when I realised Spitfires came with engines other then Merlins (I was very young) and I think I got the kit from Gamages
