Thanks HOG!

I had no idea the Tamiya fuel/oil drums were the early style, next time I sit down and do some modeling I will fix the problem....but after painting all those road wheels for the Kettenkraftrads the last thing I want to do is paint more fine lines.

Are the oil/fuel drums in the Hasegawa 1/48 scale Luftwaffe Pilots & Ground Equipment set the late style? I prefer the late war versions if possible because it will work better with my planned Luft'46 stuff.

Hiyag`n
So far as I can tell, the only difference between early and late `drums` are the rubber bands around the middle. If you get or have the Tamiya oil drum/jerrycan set, this gives some allied oil drums. The only real difference here is the opening in the `side` on the German drums. Put the axis caps on the allied drums and who would know if the opening is there or not. Come to that use the allied drums as is. Plenty of stuff was being recycled by both sides this late in the war.
Hope this helps,
Cheers :drink:

Thanks Gary,

I never really paid much attention to the 55 Gal drums before now, but next time I look through some of my reference books I will study the photographs closely that have fuel drums in them.

Last night I was looking through my copy of ''JV 44'' (the big book by Classic Publications) and spotted a few pictures of the aircraft start carts and also some pictures of the Kettenkraftrads used to tow the Me 262s, these machines looked very clean so I will do very little weathering on my models of them.

Thanks Eddie and sotoolslinger!

I hope to have some pictures of the completed models up by next Sunday, the extra day off work this week will be put to good use.

I need to finish up the bomb trolly and Schwimmwagon so I can start the 1/48 scale Tamiya Citreon Traction and the two aircraft hangers, the next years photobase pictures will have plenty of new props to be seen in the background! ;D

Thanks sotoolslinger!

After I get used to working with my new Iwata airbrush I might try and do another one of my Kettenkraftrads in an ambush camouflage pattern like the V W has, I don't think anybody else has done a what-if Kettenkraftrad before. ;D

Beautiful job on the paint and weathering of these pieces. I especially like the subtle (visible but not too strong) mud splashes on the Beetle.

Thanks Jeff!

The Vee Dub is nearly finished and now just needs the glass put in it, the start carts will get a little bit of grime added to them to replicate the greasy handprints from the mechanics as seen in some pictures of the real start carts.
