There's a lot you can do with drop tanks.......

Racing car?

Canoe down the Palmiet River

Belly tank racer!

I did read of Pacific Islanders creating a rainwater catch and an alcohol still out of some postwar, might also apply to Vietnam. Found it!!!

Just to add some uncertaintly back in, some tip tanks are NOT droppable because they're integral to the wing structure: the Aero L-39 is one example that springs to mind, but there are probably others.

Best tip tank story I read involved an RB-45 Tornado climbing away from an airbase "somewhere in England", presumably with the intention of having a "navigational training error" somewhere over the Eastern side of the Baltic.... Everything was going well when, all of a sudden, the aircraft performed a violent, uncommanded, 360 deg. roll, and then straightened out in level flight, climbing slightly faster!

When the pilot got his eyeballs both back pointing the same way, he noticed that his tip tanks had gone. Subsequent investigation revealed that one had fired it's explosive bolts due to a short circuit, and the resulting roll had generated enough Gs to snap the other one off halfway around, leaving the plane to self-right..... ;D

The mind BOGGLES!  :o

Those were BIG tanks too, didn't they have fins on the front as well as ones at the rear? Can't imagine why......
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model
