Not quite sure where I'm going with this one yet - probably some kind of US Army Special ops bird

Loooooooooooove the XV-15! Would be great to see it in GREEN camo of some sort. What brand is the kit?

Cool to see an XV-15.

Go wild and bolt an AH-1 Cobra cockpit to it!  You know you want to...  :drink:

I bet you say that to all the planes.....

But I do have to agree with the Comrade. A very pretty aeroplane. Can't wait to see what she's going to look like all dolled up as a special ops. bird !

I am looking forward to seeing this when it is finished, it could work as part of an assault force with my Taipan.
Marvellous Mart

Well I've hit a few snags as regards armament - the size of the rotors rules out anything other than bombs under the wings, as with the rotors in the forward position any missiles/rockets etc. would be firing through the rotors, and the low ground clearance under the fuselage makes it difficult to fit anything under there. The fuselage sponsons are clear of the rotor arc, so could get a couple of guns in each ( a bit like the sponsons on the OV-10 Bronco ). However I have thought of something - it seems to have quite a capacious cabin area, which could accomodate a rotary missile launcher which extended in flight  ;D

Hya Mart,
I too had this dilemma when building my V-22 gunship, I wanted to fit Hellfires to it also  but didn't know where to put them, so I put an out rigger on the starboard side forward of the door, and put the cluster of hellfires on that. The out rigger was off an anti sub SH-60, I think it held the sonar drogue but it does this job perfectly.

 Just what I was thinking to put on my AH-1W/XV-15 mash-up. Great minds think alike, and all that... ;) I thought the fuel would be moved aft and to the wings, while the usual Cobra engine and transmission will be deleted and - hey presto! - plenty of space to fit a rotary launcher. Maybe like a paternoster cyclic lift? Sorta like this (in principle):

Cheers,
Moritz
