Hi guys

Anyone have any images of this honey? The book "X-Planes" by David Oliver and Mike Ryan has a very nice "action shot" painting of a couple, but I can't find anything else online. The closest is this one, from the game Tom Clancy's EndWar:

I'm going to make one based off the Italeri 1:72 RAH-66 Comanche. Progress as and when. I thought this build may provoke a bit more interest here than some of my other recent ones :)

Hm, when they're in helicopter mode what stops the fuselage anti-rotating?

There's no tail rotor, no co-axial main rotor and no air jet like an MD-500......
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

IIRC, the rotor is tip-driven, so no need for a counter-torque system.

That's cheating. :)

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

I dunno, in principle there Could be an airjet in that weird tailboom that sits above the center of the tail.  It's definately a Weird concept, and it could be interesting, potentially, if it were ever to be seriously worked on... much similar to an attack tiltrotor concept might be an interesting concept one of these days.

Well Boeing made a UAV demonstrator, the X-50, but both prototypes crashed.....look it up on my holy of holies, Wikipedia ;)

For some exceedingly annoying reason, none of the pictures at SecretProjects load for me. There's a ton of people saying "here's a very nice pic for you1" and then blank!!!

Holey buckets!! That's the first I've seen of a CRW Comanche..... well done!

As previously mentioned, both of the X-50 demonstrators crashed, and the project was canned.
From what I recall, there were some aerodynamic issues that cropped up, which I find startling in this day and age of CFD design-testing.
