This one took me a little longer than it should have.  This is the Accurate Miniatures (read: Eduard) P-39 kit.  I really enjoyed the thing, and was amazed at all the different options provided for in the kit.

I've been wanting to do a Soviet P-39 for some time, as I'd read that frequently the Russians would paint their red stars over our white ones after delivery of the aircraft--I suppose when it was neither cost or time-effective to repaint the aircraft.  I haven't seen many/any pics, though.

So this uses the soviet markings from the kit, in addition to the US markings.  It's not kosher, I know, but it should be somewhat historically correct, at least in spirit.  I like the red stars on the blue circles, though.  It's kinda cool.

I also saw some pictures of P-39's where the exhausts had apparrently burned all of the paint off, leaving a trail of bare metal.  So I tried that, too.  I just used a small cloth and some SNJ aluminum powder.

PS:  I hope that there is a special hell for the a**holes who neatly slice the profile pages out of library books.  And I swear if I catch anyone doing it, I'll superglue all their fingers inside their butt cracks.  And put the video up on youtube.

My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

Beautiful work.  I have seen ALOT of P-39 kits out there lately, and your build may be the kick I needed to pick one up.  Nice nice nice!
