Hardly a surprise, the modelling world has been waiting for a 1/72 Wasp for about 60 years, since the first one flew approx. but it's never happened until now.

Quote from: Weaver on May 07, 2024, 05:58:08 AMThe Wasp and the Scout are in at Hannants now.

They were there two weeks ago as I was notified that my backorders were in. I had them in time to show the guys at the Scottish Nationals.

Okay, I just looked at the site for the 1st time in ages.

OK, though I did post that I had received them on the 24th of April, complete with a picture. You obviously missed it though.

The Wasps are back in stock at Hannants, along with a couple of after market goodies ; a torpedo and canopy masking set.

Oh, nice!

EDIT: The torpedo is in stock but the masks are only available to backorder.

Ah right, I must of missed that bit when I checked their new arrivals Saturday morning, apologies.

I was talking to various people yesterday at the IPMS AGM at Boscombe Down Aviation Collection and a few suggested that the LF Wasp/Scout kits are a bit rough and ready. The real things look complicated and getting that down to 1/72 must make the building quite fiddly and patience draining.

This was while we were sat in the real things pretending to be pilots  ;D

At that price they should be PERFECT!  :o

If that's the case, it looks like I'm stuck with the Airfix one. But I've had so many troubles with it that I'll wait until I can find a new box, and try to do a better job on it than the partly-built collection of bits on the bench. The RNLI will have to rely on boats until then.

This is the contents of the box

The main sprues

The clear sprue, 3D printed resin bottles, aerials and decals

The scout is the same other than the decals being different and no 3D-printed resin.

Are they worth it? I think so. The level of detail is far better than with the Airfix kit. I do have the Air-Graphics conversion parts for the Airfix Scout to turn it into a Wasp and I hope that Freightdog will release his kit as I have expressed my interest in one of them. There were plenty of operators in real life as well as all the whiff one's so it's not as if I could run out of operators for them.

Okay, maybe they're back in the game.  ;)

Looks reasonable to me, certainly an improvement of some of the LF kits from a few years ago I've got in the stash.

I will post better pictures when I build the kit. I am waiting until I know if Colin is releasing his kit or not so I can build several together in the one thread.
