Not really much of a what if, as there were Spitfire Mk Ibs armed with two 20mm Hispano cannon and 92 squadron did fly them.  However, these markings are for the mk Ia, the what if being "what if they'd been cannon armed earlier?"

Basix Airfix Spit Vb that I picked up for £1.50 at Telford a few years back as being part started.  For which read "almost done".  All it needed was the filler sanding off and a coat of paint.  So, off with the oil cooler for the V and on with a resin one for the I.  Colour scheme and markings from the Tamiya Spitfire Ia and the prop stolen from an Airfix Spitfire Ia.

Dead easy and very, very subtle.  Almost invisible...

Ah yes, the great unloved cannon armed Spitfire Ib.

19 Squadron had them during the BoB but the cannon jammed so frequently, and they had no .303s at all beside the two 20 mms, the CO asked for his old Ia back. And he got them!

That's so subtle very few people would spot it, only the squadron code buffs among us. Nice one. :)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

99% of JMNs wouldn't spot it, and those that do can like it or lump it!

The Wooksta!

This one prefigures The Plan by a good two years.  May have to redo it.
