I think that depends on your, and their, definition of 'plastic'.

The original FROG Penguin kits, which I think they are talking about, were made of cellulose acetate rather than the polystyrene we know and love these days. They first came out in 1936, which does pre-date me, but not by much......  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

My intended cut-off date is 1970 (mostly because the oldest Revell model I've built had 'copyright 1970' on the box - the tool was probably older, but I do not know.
There are no good kits, bad kits or grail kits, just kitbash fodder.
