Indian Saras Kit - Anyone come across this before?

Found this in my LHS (Kit Krazy in Bexleyheath), which specialises in second hand kits. It's a 1/72 kit of a joint Russian/Indian pusher-prop light transport, the Myasischev M-102 Duet/NAL Saras.

The kit is produced by "C-CADD Model Shop", Bangalore. I've never heard of them before and the LHS owner doesn't know anything about the kit's origins - it was just part of a small collection he purchased.

As a kit, it's very basic. More of a desktop display model than a conventional kit, it's produced in very thick plastic, has very few parts and no undercarriage and has the cockpit and cabin windows pre-glued into the fuselage halves. Unfortunately this pre-gluing has been done a bit too robustly and the cockpit glazing has some cracks and blemishes. It looks as if it would do more harm than good to try to remove the transparencies, but I'm hoping that careful application of Klear will improve things.

My model will be finished as a Russian M-102 (although I think that this has now been abandoned and only the Indian version is going ahead), probably in VIP transport colours although I am thinking about arming it for a coastguard role.

Cool. Did i mention that i could kill for a model of that kind of subject?

Ive had two of those pass thru my hands in the last year, one found on Ebay the other at Telford.
One was swapped for other stuff with TSRjoe the other is currently sitting in my stash.  Have to admit I wasnt aware of the Russian link thou.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Size (of the stash) matters.

I saw a review of one somewhere, think it said it was produced as a promotional model for sale at the Aero India show. Never seen one in the flesh.

Very cool. Love the idea of an armed Coast Guard example. Forget the girly VIP idea....

Now start educating yourself !

I love the "do it yourself" label  ;D

Kit Krazy can be an absolute treasure trove can't it ? On their stand at Perth a few years back the old man gave me an extra discount on the basis that as I had a similar accent he could understand me and us "Southerners" should stick together when in "Indian Country"
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I remember that one Chris..it was a southeners invasion of Perth. With you, Kit Krazy and the little fella from Brigade models............and me in a way, after all I was born south of the river lol
I always hope for the best.
