Hi everybody. I´m Fran, from Spain.

I usually to post the pictures of my what if-models to the forum of "Current and finished models" . On april 2nd, i posted one named "RAF´46 WESTLAND SEAWIND". Someone said to me that there is a contest of what if- seaplanes, and encouraged me to participate in it with this model.

I started the kit on march, when received the floaters and trolley i ordered, to make the project that i´ve thought to make, and finished twenty days ago. I think i might participate in the contest, but i haven´t any picture in progress-build (i´ve never taken any photo before finished my models -till now-). Therefore, i understand that if someone has any objection, i´ll removed the topic (what a pity!).

The kit cames from Westland Whirlwind of Bilek Models (old Airfix). The figther flew many offensive sweeps against coastal areas of Europe (missions Rhubarb), flying over the british channel. This gave me the idea for convert the kit into a plane of attack against naval units; without need a land base or a carrier. Then i added the innovation of jet engine.

About the modifications; the main is to delay the position of the wings (anterior to the cockpit in the Whirlwind), cutting off the union with the fuselage, and filling the hole with plasticard and putty. The engines are the same, removing the cone of propeller, cutting off the posterior part, and changing it to the same part of a turbine of Me 262. Also, i stretched the vertical stabilizer of tail with plasticard; as the seaplanes of that time.

Just missing the floaters, that are of the Spitfire version floatplane (conversion set of AMC Models), and the transport carriage, that is of set of the Arado Ar 95 of Kora Models.

I hope you like it.

All the best
Francisco

I like it!

Was the tractor "captured" from the same folks that flew the He-380??
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

PACOPEPE

Yes Craig. It´s the tractor of Me 163 of Heller. I found it friendly; boy for all.

As we say here in Spain: ¡qué malo eres!....

Is just kidding.

Nice one, Fran.  I'm impressed that you even took the time and trouble to move the Whirlwind wings.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

Great work, Fran! I'm a fan of anything that flies from the water, whether from floats or carriers, and you've done a wonder.
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.
