Competitor to SPY-1?

I've heard of a C-MAR radar, which is said to be a derivative of the MPQ-53 from the Patriot missile system, was in the running against the forerunner of SPY-1F for ROCN's stillborn Tien Dan class air defense frigate programme.

Has there been a competitor to the SPY-1 for Ticonderoga and Arleigh Burke classes AEGIS warships, too?  Was that competitor also related to the MPQ-53?
