My next build theme.

When I eventually get round to finishing my Honduras, Cartel and Marine/navy/CIA task force builds, which, I might add could take a while yet, if I ever get round to building everything, I have decided what my next theme will be, and it wil be something completely different.
I am going to build aircraft vehicles boats etc, for a new and modern version of S.H.A.D.O. Some here will remember UFO on the TV first time round,but I am not old enough 
I thought to myself, what should I do with my X-planes? Then it all became clear,do my own version of the S.H.A.D.O stuff.
I have an XB-70 in the stash, that can launch the trans-atmospheric fighter that I have built from bits from the bone yard, and the XB-70 could also be a launch platform for anti UFO missiles, and UCAV's. I have a YF-12 that can also be a high altitude UFO interceptor. I have got an x-70 thunderdart that can be used as a trans-atmospheric interceptor, along with the the complete SR-75  X-70 set. This could be a long range patrol/interceptor aircraft. I also have 2 F-19's in the stash that can be of use in this department also.
Instead of having a submarine as a launch platform for skydiver, I thought of perhaps either an ekranoplan, or a hydrofoil. The craft to take the place of skydiver could be a supersonic/hypersonic UCAV, powered by PWD engines  or scram jets and armed with misiles.
For the ground vehicles, I can make stuff from the various dead armoured vehicles I have and from the quick build Italeri stuff you can get.
Any thoughs and ideas on this are welcome as I am sure there will be plenty more that can be done here.

How about a Modern Version of the SHADO Mobiles??? i used to Watch UFO when i was a Kid!!!!!!!! i you want Pics of the stuff, Let me know and I'll get you the Address of a Site i know,OK?

I'd love to see a modernised SHADO, where someone has actually sat down and thought out their strategy and tactics. I mean, would not the world be safer with more than three single shot interceptors? Are there more than three SkyDivers (SD3 is references in one episode only)?
It was one of the constant nigles about You Fo for me...

Is that the site with the shadair sst on? If so I think I may have seen it. The stuff I will be doing will be based on stuff that that is currently available, with suitable modifications to them. Most of the aircraft I will use will have some sort of trans-atmospheric capability.

I don't see why the interceptors should not be able to engage multiple targets,I was thinking of making a version of S.I.D that took more of a part in the protection of earth than just saying what was happening. It could also be an orbital weapons platform, offering either a primary or secondary defence of earth. I think the moon base would be useful but not in a front line defence role. It could be used as a supply and observation post, with a secondary defence capability, I was thinking the interceptors could be either part of the same platform as S.I.D or part of another orbiting station, that would not suffer from being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Hi Chris, I saw a very nice Stryker APC done as a replacement SHADO mobile over on Starship Modeler several months ago, doubt it's still there as the site wipes older posts. The person who made it had fitted lights (or were they Photoshopped??) and it looked really good with SHADO titles.
I heard the Mk.IX Hawks from Space 1999 were supposed to be SHADO's new fighters if the series had been renewed. Just watched Breakaway (1st ep of 1999) this afteroon and the space dock that gets destroyed was apparently going to be the new SID and a base for the Hawks. Moonbase Alpha was going to be the expanded SHADO base.

For those in good old Blighty, UFO is still on ITV4, and I watch it all the time!!!
