I was just thinking exactly the same. The main gear legs are so far aft there's no way the '103 could 'rotate' in the conventional sense. That probably explains why it sits so nose high, to give the wing enough incidence to levitate the whole a/c when it reaches T/O speed.

The model is awesome nonetheless, in an RW colour scheme it looks so much better than the more familar NMF that we've seen so far.

Thank you one and all !, I've  been having no end of probs with my broadband connection( BT home hub.. ) so been unable to thank you personally!!...just keeps dropping out , I'm pretty IT savvy, but this one has me and several guys in the know , baffled !!
Anyway, Tigercat that looks really cool, going to do mine along the same lines using long range tanks, IFR and TAC ADC scheme, with 16th FIS checkerboard markings...

Wes I think it's more down to photography, the first shots are done using my 'daylight' box , (basically an adapted aquarium top with daylight tubes and lots of ali foil against a white card, the seconrd lot are using tropical day filters from a stand light with two bulbs angled apart, against a dark base and blue card background, so this gives a darker look to the scheme.The first set accurately portray the ADC colour.

Kit and Ed, I agree with you, T/O would have been interesting.The nearest aircraft 'stance' wise is the F-8 Crusader but of course that used high lift devices, not to mention adjustable VI wing to get it into the air.The '103 didn't have leading edge flaps but it was to have blown flaps of large area.Combined with the ground angle I guess it would have needed a fair bit of tarmac to get airbourne, not to mention a smooth surface !!
Would have been far easier to put it on the back of an XB-70 !!!.......now there's an idea !!

Very nice build!  The F-103's definately an odd ship, I can't imagine that it would have had a smooth service life!

I've got two Anigrand kits, one looks pretty awful, the other quite good, but like you say, you never know until you build it.

Here is my F-103, built several years ago and light years behind General Melchet's.  I used F-102 markings, IIRC.

Wes, nothing wrong with your's, in fact the scheme you have in the background (the black and yellow tailed Dagger, 496th FIS in believe was to be my original scheme!!),
Mart just keep plodding away, if you've managed the Rapier then this shouldn't be too much of a struggle...!!
