Last week I joined up at the Unofficial Airfix Forum as a couple guys from IPMS/USA had mentioned it.  They were running what they call a Blitzbau or a 24 hour build GB.  The difference was you could participate during any 24 hour period from Dec 27th - Jan 31st.  After seeing what these guys were putting out in 24 hrs, I thought I would give it a try.

I had already done the Revell Snap TIE in less than 2 hours but that had no paint and very little glue so didn't think that was fair.  What else did I have in my stash.  So to be different (they all had built planes) I took this one off my For Sale pile just after midnight on Sunday (the 31st) and threw it together.

Original plan was to spray the parts then put the pieces together in the morning.  Of course, I realized I didn't have the right color green in my spray paints so instead I put the parts on and sprayed the red.

Luckily, the LHS was open for 3 hours on Sunday starting at Noon so I got out there and picked up some NATO Green from Tamiya and continued on.

The kit is approximately 1/180th scale and a little basic, worst pieces are the guns and the decals would look large on the 35th scale kit.

By 6:30 pm, well before my Midnight cut off.  I have my second build of the year completed (and last year I only finished 2 total).

Nice one.  Good job on that small boat and quick too.  Have you thought about maybe adding a dark olive wash to bring out some of the deck details?

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

If I can find some tiny numbers, US Flag to hang off the mast and some N gage crew I might do a little more and put it in a little dio (either at sea or at dock).  In which case I will do a little weathering on it.
