Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.

Making up and painting the colour schemes.

Weathering and making it look like it is an in service replica. I heard someone at our State hobby show saying to his teenage son that there is no way that that this plane (my B-36) had turrets like that. Completely ignoring the fact that it was in a RAF scheme

Painting for me is the most fun!!!!!!

Just coming up with the whole concept does it for me (althou here lately my creativity when it comes to writing is in serious need of Cialis), but I tend to get hungup on the technicalities of everything so . . .

Probably the initial concept for me...I have an entire folder of "to-do's".  It is kind of like writing...I do a chapter or two, shop it around, and see if there is any interest. None? Move on to the next idea.

The bringing to life of a fantasy, one that is often based on improving a past reality.

For instance, the Marconi-equipped Bristol Night Fighter Quadratyre.    Somewhat reality, somewhat alternative, a radar carrying aircraft in WW-1 would have been beneficial.   And the knowledged types here taught me more about radar than I could have ever hoped for.    Life has yet to allow the project's construction, but the WnW kit is in house.       Or, putting metal wings on a SPAD XIII.  Why not?   Or, outfit a Hs-123 for a rogue diamond/hasish/weapons smuggling group in Africa that would be of benefit to certain parties...or not.    Etc. Etc. Etc.

The creativity of it all is just wonderful.  Subtle or bold, silly or stunning, realistic or impossible; it's all great.   Making an airplane from bread bag clips?!!???

And after watching daily log-in numbers increase over the last while, the Whiffer mentality may be nearing a point of rapid expansion.

for me it's the fact that my head brims with all these things i could do and how i could alter the world with just one thing, thats why i do my Empires Twighlight as one big story, it all flows from the one point in time.

Also the fact that my " knowledgable " brother in law really does think that the RAF used Concorde as a bomber  ;D  ;D   :drink:
Everything looks better with the addition of British Roundels!

I like writing the stories more than any thing else.

The grandmaster of screwing people up was Alvis. His Merlin engined Canadian B-17 was written up in a US modeling magazine, an IPMS one. Ha!
Better than that however, he went to a model show with a Kotex stock car including creating the shrink wrapped box and the race car model builders were convince that on the Nascar race circuit there was a pink Monte Carlo with Kotex and the like written down the side. The dude is twisted.

I think sharing ideas and fruits of our labor is the best part of whiffing for me. It was an incredible moments when I found out there was more than just a few lost souls who enjoyed going against the grain. ;D The inspiration here is beyond words.

Personally, the best part is when the lightining strikes and I get a new idea for a build or when I'm staring at a piece for a model and realize it would be so much cooler if I used it upside down and backwards. ;D :D

Most fun part is seeing a kit in a hobby shop, and getting that inspired thought of what it would look like in such-and-such role/colors/markings.  Then comes the backstory, which begins the minute I plunk down the money and begin driving home.  In more cases than not, I forget the story, but its fun while it lasts  ;D

I really enjoy researching my backstory.  When I build a whif I like it to have a rational story behind it, even if it's a bit absurd.  I can spend hours online or in books trying to figure out how Country X could end up with Aircraft Y and so on.  As far as the actual build process, I'd say decaling and weathering are my favorite bits.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Ahhh, Saint Alvis...Surely an example for all of us to follow and perhaps exceed.   :drink:

Maybe that's just me.
