with the workbench a bit empty at the moment, i decided to start on another new kitbash/scratchbuild project.
with the harrier and X-35B being the only VSTOL fighter availble in 1/144, ive been looking for a way to build my own.
i decided to make a Yak-141 out of an old airfix Mig-23 fuselage. so i sawed of the nose, engine and wingsand build a whole new airframe and intakes around it
the holes that were left in the fuselage are filled up with putty, this will be sanded after drying.

to build the parts, i prined out a 3-view drawing of the yak and printed it down to scale.
weapons wil be added later (2 AA-8 and 2 AA-10)
as for markings, i plan to build it as either a venezuelan or a chinese navy version.
most propably will be chinese as they did buy 2 kiev class carriers, but what if they werent used as amusement parks

anyway, picture time

Nils, That's a real beauty!!!

It's the kind of build I like the most. The shapes are all there, and this little monster sure will look extraordinarily nice on every flattop!!!

UPDATE:

the yaks almost done, the putty has been sanded off, the lift engine has been fitted as well as the landing gear and doors.

i managed to find some chinese decals from a 1/144 J-7II fighter, i'll ad some hardpoints later.
as for camo, im thinking PLANAF Grey or 3-tone blue camo

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?
