I have run across an excellent What if site, "What If Cars Design",  http://www.whatifcars.com/index1.php

If you are a fan of American cars, the owner of the site, Cliff Temple, has an answer to questions like, "What if the DeSoto had been built for 1962, What if the Edsel had lasted into 1961 and 62, etc."  He has done some outstanding art work for his "What If" designs, and it is worth taking a look at.

NEAT !!  not as good as Barris of course -- loved to have seen some of them actually available in showrooms.

All I need now is to find someone to draw my idea for a new Alfa Romero "Duo" spyder  ;D
you may as well all give up -- the truth is much stranger than fiction.

I'm not sick ... just a little unwell.

In addition to being an aircraft enthusiast, I am somewhat of a "car buff", especially for American cars from about 1955 to 1965.  If I was rich (really really Bill Gates type rich), I would purchase a bunch of early 60s cars and use "street rod" and "Kustom" technology to create some of these "What Ifs".  First would be the 1962 DeSoto Adventurer; start with a 300H and modify the sheet metal a bit.  It would probably cause groans from the "purists" in the 300 clubs, but it certainly would be a unique car.  Next would be the '62 Edsel Corsair; take a Mercury S-55 and modify the body a bit.

For the time being (until I win the lottery), I will stick to creating 1/72 scale aircraftwhat ifs; they are a lot less expensive and requite a lot less maintenance!!
