Jets in sand and dust environments

I know that modern helos and piston fighters are equipped with dust filters in order to operate in dust environments.
Is there anything for jet fighters? I think that devices like those in early MiG-29 or Su-27 are not effective against dust.
What do you think? what do you know?

Thanks,
Carlos.

I've never seen any. Likely a jet needs too much airflow (and at a too-high speed) to make a filter feasible.

Also, at the kind of speeds jet fighters can reach, you'd get all sorts of strange aerodynamic effects in the inlet: imagine all the little shockwaves from a grill across the intake....

The answer is no.. (for the most part anyway)  firstly its a flight characteristic.... Helios tend to fly in they're own dust cloud kicked up all around them while fast jets all the dust and crap are kept behind them, Most jets also spend most of they're time at too high an altitude for it to be a problem.

That said the sand DOES wear things out MUCH MUCH faster... from paint to fanblades on jet engines.

At take off and landing smaller dust and particles would just burn up, larger items, stones and such should have been removed by FOD walks of the runway anyway....
