I've tried to look this up on-line but get pages of information which dosn't answer the question  :banghead:

Were US aircraft (particularly fighter types) used by the RAF in WWII fitted with RAF style seat harness ? Question also applies to FAA types as well.

I'm assuming that standard RAF equipment was fitted at the MU when the aircraft arrived in the UK, not sure though.

I think you will find that US aircraft were fitted with British harnesses and also radios/IFF before being issued to squadrons.

Absolutely right, depending upon when they were issued, you would find Sutton or Q-type harnesses on all US fighter types in the inventory. I'm in the middle of a RW build of an Airacobra MkI in Soviet service. I bought the superb Ultracast seat (with Sutton harness) to go with it..... if you're interested, you can see it here:http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=33602.

.... so what are you planning, Chris ?, enquiring minds need to know

Confuscious (maybe)

Thanks Nigel and Ian you've confirmed my thoughts. I can now finish the cockpit. It's roomy enough in 1/72 to warrent an Eduard pre-painted belt rather then my usual masking tape for WIFs. Yes I do discriminate against WIF's when it comes to aftermarket products - sorry.

As to what it is, well she's in PSR at the moment so maybe a week or so

Ian thanks for that link I've got a couple of those in the stash so the build is interesting
