Take the armour off the figure and put it on the animal! Simple really:

Well whilst talking to Rad once about his Ming/Abbo alliance scenario I suggested that the Aborigines could ride fully armoured war kangaroos. When they came across a European style knight the kangaroo would have no problem with the warhorse, just box it with it's armpoured gloves  ;D
